Mid-Winter Vehicle Inspection

Do you want to make your vehicle last a lot longer? Then add a Mid-Winter Vehicle Inspection to your list of to-dos and make sure you power wash the undercarriage to remove any grime and especially road salt from the bottom of the vehicle.

Winters in Texas are sometimes a bit severe. The good folks at Integra Insurance Services in Huntington TX know this too. We live here in the same community and we go through the same things as you do. What we LOVE to do is to make sure our clients are well protected and that we give them tips to help them avoid troubles in their lives.

This is why we recommend a mid-winter inspection. This is a good time to make sure your vehicle is maintained properly in order to avoid damage from winter weather.

Here are some things to check.

  • Are you using the correct oil viscosity? Viscosity is the thickness of the oil and how easily it flows. In the winter time, the oil gets thicker naturally by the colder temperature, so you need to change the type of oil grade that you use to make sure the oil can flow through the engine properly. Notice we said the type of oil grade and not the brand. It is better to stay with a particular brand when changing oil. If you use synthetic oil for example, do not attempt to replace it with regular oil. That can cause a disaster. If you like a particular brand, simply choose the correct viscosity for winter weather.
  • The viscosity ratings are two numbers and they might be 10/40. This means the viscosity for this brand is 10 in the wintertime and 40 in the summer time
  • Change the oil filter, air filter, and the gas filter.
  • Check and change spark plugs if needed.

Besides doing a mid-winter vehicle inspection, be sure to consult with your agent at Integra Insurance Services in Huntington, TX to make sure your auto insurance coverage is adequate.
