What you need to know about toy insurance

Whoever says that adults do not play with toys has probably never seen a 40-year-old man take an adventurous ride through the rough terrains on his ATV. Perhaps they missed the retired couple who bought a new boat for no other reason other than to have something new to play with while exploring the seas. Regardless of what your fancy is, Huntington, TX, we know that you invest in recreational vehicles of your choosing to get more pleasure out of life. Such is the reason why Integra Insurance Services offers you toy assurance policies that cover your expensive cars, trucks, RVs, ATVs, and boats.

What is toy insurance?
In short, toy assurance is indemnity coverage that pays out when your recreational vehicle is damaged or stolen. No one toy insurance policy works the same for all types of vehicles because, as with cars, some recreational investments cost more than others. You would not purchase a plan that only covers half of your new BMW when searching for auto insurance. In the same manner, you would not search for the cheapest recreational coverage you can find just to say, “I’m covered.”

Things to consider when searching for coverage
You definitely want liability insurance that covers physical injury in the case of an accident when you buy toy assurance. Your policy should have bodily and property damage limits that can pay for everything from medical bills to lost wages as well as property damage.

Another thing to consider when searching for the right toy insurance plan is collision and comprehensive damage. It is not enough to have one without the other since collision coverage only pays for damage caused by accident. Comprehensive coverage, on the other hand, provides financial stability when your ATV, RV, boat or other recreational vehicle is damaged due to things like severe weather and vandalism. You definitely do not want to live in Huntington, TX, where hurricanes are a thing, and try to scoot by without both comprehensive and collision coverage.

You have worked hard for your toys, which is why you should invest in an indemnity policy that fixes or repairs damages when the unimaginable happens. Integra Insurance Services can help you find the right plan.

Insurance for Recreational Vehicles

You work hard. You deserve to play hard. Your motorized recreational vehicles take your outdoor leisure time to another level. A comprehensive insurance policy will protect your investment. But what insurance coverage do you need for your recreational vehicles in the Huntington, TX area?

Off-Highway Vehicles and Texas Law

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles defines off-highway vehicles as motorized vehicles that do not exceed 45 mph. These can be separated into more specific categories.

  • Low-speed (LSVs) and Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs)

These small passenger vehicles are equipped with mirrors, seat belts, and head and tail lights, similar to cars and trucks. These smaller machines, however, are only capable of reaching speeds between 20-35 mph. They can be driven on public roads, but are not safe for highway use. These vehicles must be registered with the Texas DMV, and covered by an active insurance policy.

  • Golf Carts

A golf cart has no less than 3 wheels and reaches speeds between 15-25 mph. Designed for use only on golf courses, these vehicles are generally not allowed on public roads. However, there are limited exceptions to that rule. Golf carts may be driven on the private roads of master planned communities, beaches, on roads within 2 miles of where the cart is normally parked, and on roads with posted speed limits of 35 mph or less. State law does not require golf cart owners to insure or register their vehicles.

  • All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)

An ATV is equipped with seats for the driver and passenger, has three or more wheels, measures less than 50 inches in width, and is not designed for highway, farm, or landscaping use. Only law enforcement, utility workers, and certain farmers may drive them on public roads. Insurance is not required to operate these vehicles, but you may need motorcycle training to ride them on public lands.

Protect Your Toys

Many recreational vehicles are not required to be insured under Texas law. However, a comprehensive insurance policy protects your toys from theft, damage, and helps pay medical bills when accidents occur.

Integra Insurance Services can customize a policy to protect all of your property, including your motorized big kid toys. If you store your recreational vehicles in the Huntington, TX area, give Integra Insurance Services a call.

Recreational Boating: 5 Tips for Staying Safe on the Water

Now that is is Summer, you may be looking forward to boating season. Safe boating is key to enjoying your time out on the water. Updating your boating insurance with Integra Insurance Services in Huntington, TX will ensure you are protected against any eventuality. The following tips will help you stay safe on the water.

Navigate Safely

If you’re new to boating, you may want to take a boating safety course to learn safety procedures for recreational boating before taking your vessel out on the water. The more knowledgeable you are about boating, the better. Safe boating habits such as navigating at safe speeds and staying alert at all times can reduce the risk of accidents.

Wear a Life Jacket

As the captain of your ship, you’re responsible for the safety of your passengers. Make sure everyone wears a life jacket when going out on the water. Children should have jackets that fit properly for their age and size.

Maintain a Safe Vessel

Check your boat periodically to ensure it’s in good condition and safe for traveling. An unsafe vessel will not only endanger your safety but could pose a threat to other boaters. Don’t forget to check your life raft(s) as well, especially before taking any long distance trips.

Stay Abreast of Weather Conditions

Check the weather forecast to make sure weather conditions are appropriate for boating. Take note of storm advisories and return to port if adverse weather threatens your safety.

File a Float Plan

If you’re planning an all-day boat trip, tell someone of your plans to include where you’re headed and when you’ll return. If something happens, that individual can tell authorities where to conduct a search.

Texans: Why Insurance Makes the Boat Ride That Much More Enjoyable

Boating is a universal activity for people nationwide. During the summer, friends and family can enjoy a lot of activities – fishing, tubing, swimming, and even just relaxing in the sun. As many people can easily attest to, however, it’s unfortunately all too easy for a fun boat ride to transform into a ruined day in a matter of moments. Motor breaks down, get into a collision with another boat or another foreign object, etc. could see you paying a pretty penny just to get some normalcy going with your boating. Integra Insurance Services understands that desire all too well.

Depending on the state a boater resides in, they may have to fulfill a mandatory boater education course and be approved before they can take to the water with their boat – and this is the case with Texas boaters. These educational courses will work to ensure that all potential boaters are made aware of important safety rules and regulations as well as ensure that you are able to actually operate the boat competently. For prospective boaters, the idea of doing all of these courses and passing can be an intimidating process, which may keep boaters off of the water – or worse, have them try to skirt their responsibilities entirely and not even get the proper boating insurance. At Integra Insurance Services. we don’t want to see either happen, so we aspire to make sure to help the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department by getting all of you prepped for when you do go out to take this course.

Boaters in and around the Huntington area who are interested in boating and need to get some brushing up on your knowledge or do not have your first clue about it, make sure to contact Integra Insurance Services online or by phone at  (800) 655-2159 right away so we can help you enjoy the ride.

Bringing Your Boat Out Of Winter Storage

It’s been pretty cold, and your boat has been in winter storage for months. With spring here, the temptation to just pull it out and take off the cover is strong.

Unfortunately, there’s more to bringing your boat out of winter storage than that. There are a few things you need to do before taking to the water.

First of all, check the electrics. Make sure any batteries are charged fully. Clean and tighten all of your electrical connections and protect your battery terminals with grease or spray. Make sure that electrical systems start up. Bear in mind that rechargeable batteries are most likely to fail after a period of non-use. Check internal lights, running lights, GPS systems and, of course, the bilge pump if you have one.

Then, check the engine. You should check oil and coolant levels, power steering fluid and transmission oil. Look for fluid leaks in the bilge area, and inspect all fuel lines. Check fuel and air filters.  If you are a sail type, inspect all swage fittings, rigging, and run a rag over stays and shrouds – this will help you find fishhooks which indicate wire wear. Run a hose over chain plates to check for leaks, recaulk if necessary.

Water systems should be checked. If you put antifreeze in the fresh water tank, make sure you flush it out completely before connecting the pump, or toxic antifreeze may end up in your drinking water. Make sure the raw-water intake strainer is clean, fits correctly, and undamaged.

Finally, be sure to check all of your safety gear including flares, fire extinguishers, life jackets, etc. And, of course, make sure your marine insurance is up to date and sufficient for your needs. Contact Integra Insurance Services for a quote today.

Texas Volunteering Tips

As a resident of Texas, you’ll find no shortage of volunteer opportunities. There are countless organizations in need of your help right now. Start out by researching area causes that are most important to you and determine which ways you can best help.

Find Texas Volunteer Opportunities

Don’t wait to be asked to volunteer. There are plenty of charitable organizations looking for an extra set of hands that will welcome you aboard. Through online volunteer match search engines, you can receive a listing of available openings within your area. You can also reach out to well-known local groups such as animal shelters, food banks, homeless shelters, veteran’s services, soup kitchens, and blood banks.

Find the Right Fit for You

Treat a volunteer opportunity seriously by researching the organization thoroughly before making a solid commitment to the group. Find out about the organization’s community mission and what benefits are offered to their volunteers. The benefit can be as simple as the joy of giving back to your community. The organization may offer training in an area that helps enhance your professional skill set.

Be Realistic

Although you may want to help out as much as possible, don’t overextend yourself. Look at your current schedule and see how the time commitments required by the charity match up with your availability. A good motivator to volunteer is to make the time you spend giving back as fun as possible. Reach out to friends and family members to gauge any interest in the cause. Also, stay positive once you start volunteering and maintain your sense of humor.

As you volunteer throughout the Lufkin, Texas area, don’t forget to make sure you have adequate insurance coverage to stay protected. By using an independent insurance agency like Integra Insurance Services, you’ll be able to quickly research available insurance plans and rates.

The Advantages of an Independent Insurance Agent

When shopping around for the right insurance policy, you are going to come across all sorts of different services and agents. Some of these agents are going to market themselves as an independent insurance agent. So what exactly does this mean and what is the difference between an independent insurance agent and one who works for a larger company? Well, there actually is a number of differences available. You need to keep all of these differences in mind when working with Integra Insurance Services over other companies serving Huntington, TX.

Save Money

Probably the top reason to go with an independent insurance agent is the amount of money you save. When working with a larger firm, you pay for this. You pay to use a national chain as many of these different local agencies must pay into a larger, national pot. You do not contribute to this. As each agency is independent, they do not charge extra for these services, saving you money.

More Choices

While working with Integra Insurance Services, you’ll have access to more services. The insurance agency is not locked into specific coverage or service agreements as a larger firm with a connection to a national chain. The independent agent can offer services across the board, so if you need very specific coverage, you are more likely to find it with your independent agent over a national firm.

Make Your Claim

Have you ever attempted to make a claim with a national chain agency? It can prove rather difficult. You don’t know who you’re going to talk to and it might take a long time to finalize your claim. With an independent agent you know who you talk to right away and you know who you’ll work with. They know you and can help you make your claim not only faster, but on a more personal level.
